Ayurvedic Marma Massage

Highland Ayurveda is now offering traditional, healing Ayurvedic Marma Massage, Pinda Sweda and Shirodhara. Ayurvedic Marma Massage is very different to other forms of massage because it is specific to the person, focusing on the individual constitution and oils according to the imbalance. Ancient massage techniques (tapping, kneading, rubbing, squeezing and cupping) are used to stimulate the skin, muscles, nerves and cells of the body, to dislodge wastes, toxins and fluids. Ayurvedic Massage includes Pinda Sweda (hot poultices, similar to hot stones), Shirodhara (hot oil pouring on the head to pacify the nervous system), Marma vital energy point stimulation (similar to acupuncture) and Chakra energy balancing massage with therapeutic oils. High level lifestyle and nutritional advice is given at the end of the massage, to help avoid imbalances returning.

The benefits of Ayurvedic Massage include increased immunity, reducing signs of ageing, relieving anxiety and depression, balancing doshas to cure diseas, and whole person healing.

Highland Ayurveda offers Ayurvedic Massage to patients as part of their Ayurvedic Treatment Plan. Massage is also available to new clients, on a standalone basis for general health and happiness as regular massage relaxes muscles, nerves, bones, digestive system and the whole body, by maintaining the proper balance and circulation of the body gases, generally making life more joyful.
