Detoxifying Green Mung Bean Soup and Ginger, Lime and Honey Drink

Updated: Oct 20, 2022

This week's recipes are for days when you are feeling sluggish, congested, have indulged a little too much or simply feel like you need to reset and revitalise. I had Covid a few week's ago and thankfully recovered quickly, however I have a lingering chesty cough so have decided to take a few days to reset and detox. Detoxification is an important aspect of Ayurveda and is taken very seriously and green mung beans are the bean most easily digested by all types. This Green Mung Bean Soup is excellent for removing toxins and balancing your digestive fire. It also helps with fluid retention, swelling, vascular problems and relieves digestive problems, bloating and body aches. It's taken from Anjum Ananad's 'Eat Right for Your Body Type.' The Ginger Lime and Honey (GLH) recipe is excellent for any Kapha dominant respiratory conditions: sinusitis, congestion, coughs, colds, Covid, Long Covid and is also very good for nausea and weight loss. I am eating the soup two to three times a day for a few days, and having the GLH drink after each meal. They are my go to in times like these - and also quite delicious!! Adding these recipes to your weekly meal planner to give your digestive system a break once a week, is also a great idea. Enjoy and please comment if you try it to let others know.
